I am a visual artist based in Ballarat, Australia, whose work explores the relationship between people and the land. Through printmaking, I reflect on ecological fragility, resilience and the shifting nature of landscape, extending traditional print processes across new materials and forms.
Amanda Western's CV

My journey as a linocut printmaker is deeply rooted in my diverse life history. My art not only reflects my personal journey but also experiences gained in my professional work as an Emergency Recovery professional. I'm deeply motivated to build awareness of the importance of conservation and restoration of our natural world and also utilise the healing powers of art for all people.

I have packed a lot into the last four years since I was introduced to the linocut print world. I have produced over two hundred original artworks, held five solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions.
Please refer to my artists CV below for more details of my art practice.

I believe that the process of creating art should be just as fulfilling as the finished piece. I spend many hours on my large scale, detailed prints- hand carving in excess of 100 hours for some artworks. Production quality is extremely important to me and I use only the best materials and methods to ensure each print is meticulously handcrafted.
