Creative Ground is a small, place-based journal that notices how art, care and everyday life are lived, made and tended over time.
Grounded in Ballarat and written with a broader lens in mind, the journal brings together reflections on creative practice, community life, growing, environmental care and the quieter forms of work that often sit outside formal recognition. It’s less concerned with outward markers such as awards or milestones, and more interested in how people live well together, where they are.
Each edition gathers a small number of contributions from artists, gardeners, makers and organisations working thoughtfully in their own contexts. These sit alongside editorial reflections and visual pauses, allowing space for attention rather than accumulation.
Creative Ground is not a listings guide and it isn’t about promotion in the usual sense. It’s a slower read, designed to be returned to, read at your own pace, and held alongside daily life.
The journal is free to read and shared as a digital publication. New editions are released when they are ready, allowing the project to find its own rhythm.
While the notes gathered here come from Ballarat, they speak to ways of living that reach beyond any one place.
