A strong two-dimensional artwork can still hold an audience. But today’s audiences are increasingly drawn to experiences that invite them to enter, move, touch, feel and participate.
Installation art expands the possibilities of visual practice beyond the wall. It uses space, light, sound, objects, scale, movement and storytelling to create an environment that moves people.
Join award-winning artist Amanda Western for an intimate three-hour workshop exploring how to turn an idea into an immersive installation experience.
Designed for artists and anyone curious about installation practice, this workshop will introduce practical strategies for moving from a first spark through to a resolved spatial work. Drawing on Amanda’s own arts practice, immersive storytelling and site-responsive installation, including her recent Lantern Vaults and her 2025 Marks We Leave Behind installations, participants will explore how to:

Amanda is an award-winning regional Victorian artist whose work has been recognised through major national art prizes, exhibitions and immersive public projects.
